![]() | I'm 19 years old and a graduate of Flower Mound High School in Flower Mound, Texas heading to Tarelton State University in the fall. Go Texans. I’ve loved country music as long as I can remember. I sang in the high school choir and will be singing in Tarelton's choir, but country music is what really pumps my blood. At 14, while visiting my grandparents in Seguin, Texas, my grandfather bought me a guitar from a pawn shop in town. My grandfather’s neighbor, who plays in a band at night after work, gave me a lesson in basic guitar pickin’. At the same time a friend of my older brother was living with us and he gave me a few pointers. Playing the guitar and singing Texas Country music has become my favorite thing to do. I spend all my free time and most of my homework time picking and singing. I play Texas country with a little southern rock mixed in. I've written several songs and perform them mixed in with my current play list. Other than for school functions and friends, I performed first at the Kingsbury Opry in Kingsbury, TX, just outside of Seguin. Afterwards the owner came up and thanked me and told me to keep on playing. As I watched him drive down the road I thought this was kind of special. Here I was starting something that was going to be special and there he went, ending something that was really special to him. I'll see him again. My brother, Will, is who really got me going. Big brother doesn’t always like the noise level in the house, but guess he thought I was getting pretty good as he went to the Grapevine location of Love and War in Texas and arranged an audition. After the audition, they asked me to open that night for the headliner, Mo Robson. Since then I’ve been lucky enough to open for other great entertainers, such as Doug Moreland, Gary P. Nunn, Eleven Hundred Springs, Clay McClinton, Django Walker, Cooder Graw, The Derailers, Drew Womack, Jason Eady and Pauline Reese. Couldn't get much better. |
